Almost 20 years inside one of
America's largest institutions.
Then this.

Terence Exodus joined UnitedHealthcare in 2007 and has spent nearly two decades learning how large, complex organizations actually operate — not from a textbook, but from the inside. Over that time he has held various roles across the company, most recently serving as a Product Owner on the QIB Team for the past three years, where he led cross-functional work that demanded precision, accountability, and the ability to translate complexity into systems that people can actually use.

His background is not in finance. It is in building things that work inside environments where failure has consequences. That discipline — knowing how to ship something right the first time, how to think about edge cases before they become problems, and how to get diverse teams aligned on a single outcome — is what shaped every decision behind Hold-It™.

He holds a Business degree with a concentration in Management, and operates under the personal brand Terence Exodus — a name that reflects the mission behind the company: a deliberate exodus from debt-funded travel, one vault at a time.

"I didn't build Hold-It because I'm a finance expert. I built it because I understand systems — and the system most people use to save for a trip is broken by design."

Hold-It™ wasn't built in a
boardroom. It was built after
a cruise.

01

The Trip

Terence and his wife planned a family cruise to celebrate their eldest daughter's graduation. They tried to save. They had every intention of arriving debt-free.

02

The Reality

They came home with travel debt anyway. Not because they lacked discipline — but because their savings were sitting in a standard account with nothing keeping their hands off it.

03

The Realization

The problem wasn't desire. It was access. Money in a liquid account is money that can always be spent on something else first. No barrier. No accountability. No vault.

"What families needed wasn't another checking account.
They needed an accountability partner in their pocket
something that cheers their wins and protects their goals
from their own daily habits."

Built on one belief:
Travel is a right,
not a debt sentence.

Friction Is a Feature

Modern fintech is obsessed with frictionless. Hold-It believes that for long-term goals, intentional friction is the point. The lock is what makes the product work.

Accountability Through Community

Financial goals are rarely achieved in isolation. Squad Vault turns peer pressure into a financial tool — group trips actually happen because the stakes are real for everyone.

Alignment of Incentives

Hold-It doesn't charge overdraft fees or issue credit. The platform earns when users succeed — through interchange when they spend their saved money at their destination.
